On this week’s show it’s mixture of new and the not so new. The new tracks come from a collaboration between Ashley Beedle, Lay-Far & Darren Morris, Floating Points, Diabolical Liberties, Dexter Story, Anchorsong, Black Classical, Sarah Williams White, Space Captain, Gerardo Frisina, Max Graef & Glenn Astro, Soulparlor, Ge-Ology and another play for the excellent Reflex Revision of Stevie Wonder. There are also some great covers from Madlib, The Roots, Samuel Yirga, Mausiki Scales, Jose Gonzalez plus a killer version of Norman Connor’s Mother Of The Future recorded by Japanese band the Electro Keyboard Orchestra from 1975. Finally a couple replays from Kelis, Bembe Segue and the Charlie Watts/Jim Keltner Project remixed by Modaji.

Playing a bit of catch up on this week’s show. We’ve got tribute tracks from two great vocalists who unfortunately passed away last week….UK singer Diane Charlemagne and legendary jazz vocalist Mark Murphy including a yet to be released exclusive from the man. Plenty more global vibes as well this week from Dexter Story, Vula Viel, Tam Tam Afrobeat, Nicola Cruz, Alex Malheiros and Liviana Ferri. Apart from the Mark Murphy tracks there is jazz from Sun Ra and His Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra from the new compilation just released on Strut, some rewinds from Me'shell Ndegeocello and Ellen McIlwaine plus new tracks Ziga Murko, DJ Earl, Kneedulus, Breakdown Brass, Floating Points, an Osunlade remix of Seven Davis Jr, Jamie Woon, Diabolical Liberties and Bigyuki….Enjoy !

Unfortunately another jazz legend passed away this week so as a tribute to vibraphonist Dave Pike we dropped three favourites from the man. Also new music from Al Dobson Jr, a track from new LP from St Germain, Clap Clap, new footwork track from DJ Paypal on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder, Josh Milan, rewind on the new Ge-ology with Mark De Clive-Lowe, Axel Boman remix of Maribou State, Nicolas Jaar, Miles Bonny, Sarah Williams White, some leftfield folky bizniss from Jitwam and new Sonar Kollektiv signing Mieke Miami, another track from the debut LP from The Milk, some afro-soul from Holy Forest and Mausiki Scales cover of the Roy Ayers classic and featuring Roy himself, full on afrobeat from Argentina from Tam Tam Afrobeat and finishing with a recently discovered latin fusion track from Deep Tenor City out soon on BBE.

With over 30 years of DJ experience and a highly respected tastemaker Kev has played all over the world entertaining crowds with his selections. Never afraid to push musical boundaries playing a broad spectrum of music from jazz, soul and funk from days gone by right through to today’s more electronic based productions. In that time he has been involved in many aspects of the music industry from running his own successful record label – Clean Up Records in the late 90’s, retail, distribution, promotion and more recent years event consultant for the legendary Southport Weekender and SunceBeat Festival in Croatia. With a compilation discography in double figures, he has put together some well received compilation albums for labels like Blue Note, Cadet and BBE. The latest being ‘Private Collection’ for BBE – a compilation of independent jazz dance tracks from the 70’s and 80’s. Vol.2 has just been released. He also produces tracks under the name Messengers and R.K. Edits.
